in my garden | Willy Wagtail

This delightful jaunty chap came down to my ‘bird bath’ just as I went indoors. So I captured these shots through the conservatory window, not wanting to frighten him away. He was so happy drinking and merrily splashing away and preening himself that he brought a smile to my face.

Can you see him?

(in my garden will be an irregular series of things discovered that don’t really fit into any other category.)

That was a lucky capture, Jude. He looks happy!

They always look happy – must be that facial pattern and the bobbing walk! He drank, he bathed, he preened and then he bathed again – definitely having fun.

    Nicely observed, Jude!

I only wish he had landed before I went inside then I might have been able to get a little closer. I’d just been out to try and get some other photos so had the camera on me, but not with a zoom lens.

Woohoo…you mean you use prime lenses now, Jude! I remember lending you my 45mm, and you weren’t keen!😉

That was until I used it indoors! I can see why you love it.

They certainly are with their peculiar jaunty walk and wagging tail, I was watching a pair on the roof the other day bobbing up and down for ages!

That would be the most welcome guest in my garden too, if I had one. Lovely, Jude.

I’d love to get better bird photos as we seem to get quite a few here. Must get a bird feeder then maybe they will hang around longer 🙂

        Sounds like a sound plan.

Willy looks like he is totally enjoying himself, unaware that he is a star on your blog!

Perhaps word will get around and I shall have more visitors!

  7. He certainly is a very jaunty fellow, Jude. Nice shots through your window.
