The end of the year marks nine months of living in our new county. It has been a time of adjustment. Moving from living in the historic centre of a delightful market town along with easy access to great butchers, bakers, a thrice-weekly market, a lovely river walk and stunning Shropshire hills, to a rural abode next door to a cattle farm and within 1.5 miles of beautiful beaches, has been ‘interesting’. It has been a time of settling in and exploring the new neighbourhood. Taking time to put down roots. Β And making time to simply observe what is all around us.

Top row: March daffodil fields; October St Ives harbour beach; December fireside; June Japanese Garden

Middle row: April St Michael’s Mount; August sunset

Bottom row: July Trink hill and Wheal Alice; November local fingerpost; May Gwithian beach; September Trengwainton’s scarecrows

Just a little taster of my new life. Next year I hope to do a bit more exploring – there are beaches to discover, country parks, NT gardens, Bodmin moor, fishing villages and tea-rooms.

I hope you will join me.

  1. Nice to see you diving into your new life in Cornwall with such enthusiasm, Jude. Thanks for bringing us the sights from the west during the latter part of the year.
Looking forward to many more in 2017, and another year of blogging friendship.
    Best wishes, Pete. x

  2. It’s like Meg said on your other post- it’s too easy to miss you when you have more than one blog. I feel like I’m playing hopscotch, and after wine that’s not a pretty sight! I only saw this because I was looking for something I saw first thing this morning and didn’t have time to read. Grumble over! Like the year πŸ™‚ Quick bath and ready for the cake and fireworks.
Beware of making it look too nice. I might come for a closer look πŸ™‚

    1. Well there won’t be as much posted on the garden blog this year – I shall be concentrating on the Cornish one, unless I do some travelling! Anyway it is good to keep you all on your toes πŸ˜€
