Colours of the Celtic Sea

St Ives and harbour

This view of St Ives harbour and island is one of my favourites especially when the tide is in and the sun is shining. The colours of the Celtic sea (An Mor Keltek) can be breathtakingly beautiful – cyans, aquamarine and deep blues. Hard to believe this is England.

So beautiful Jude. Definitely more Mediterranean than any British day I remember.

The water was fabulous today too – such clear water. Took far too many photos of it!

      1. Su Leslie says:

Envious. Auckland water never seems that clear any more.

The water here reminds me of NZ – that cloudy blue colour!

When we were in the UK, people told us Cornwall had amazing NZ-like beaches. We only visited once and it rained for a week. We did see surfers in St Ives though — on a day so cold and miserable even the Big T’s legendary good cheer deserted him. I do wish we’d managed another visit.

  3. For me and people around me one of life’s biggest secrets – Cornwall. 🙂 Haven’t visited it yet but from all that I can see from photos, a miracle.

It certainly feels like a different country and the colours down here are spectacular.

  4. Those colours are stunningly beautiful!

One of the reasons why I like Cornwall 🙂

Shhh stop telling people, you don’t want any more down there!

Actually, yes, you are right Gilly. Already getting busy (St Ives) but they have so many festivals nowadays! Had a fab walk on the beach yesterday at Godrevy and even there it was busy – mostly old folk like us! (Not you – I was referring to the OH and me!!)

  6. That colour is stunning & so unreal! Beautiful!

We were in at Ives last week. Took a boat trip out to the lighthouse. This lovely image brings it all back. Regards Thom

I have never done that. Was it fun?

      1. Thom Hickey says:

Yes .. relaxing and good to see Seals.

        1. Heyjude says:

I hadn’t realised the seals were still around, I usually visit them in the winter months.
