Six on Saturday | Shades of Purple

What a week! First rain then wind! I have hardly been out into the garden this week. In fact I have hardly been outside at all. There was some sunshine but it didn’t last long and it was far too windy for photographs so I am going to show some purples captured recently at some of the lovely gardens in Cornwall.

Anti-Clockwise from top left
  1. Scaevola aemula, the fairy fan-flower or common fan-flower (this might find itself in a patio pot next summer)
  2. Statice ‘Market Growers Blue’ – a lovely everlasting flower
  3. Double Aster
  4. Heliotrope (Heliotropium arborescens) or Cherry Pie (another one for next year)
  5. Buddleia
  6. Linaria ‘Fairy Bouquet’ (so very pretty)

With the days shortening quickly we have to make the most of every hour of daylight. Although I used to like the autumn months almost as much as spring I have found in recent years that it has become wetter and windier, or maybe that’s because I moved to Cornwall.

As always, if you want a peek over other people’s garden walls then please pop over to our host, the lovely Jon, AKA ‘The Propagator’ where you find links to many more wonderful garden enthusiasts from all over the world.

See here for the participant’s guide.

it looks lovely in such a large sowing. I don’t have that much room, but maybe in a large shallow pot it could be okay.
